Our Navajo Rugs, such as this beautiful 1945 Navajo Chinle Weaving Desert Tones, are genuine Native American, handwoven by the Navajo People in New Mexico. Each weaving was made using traditional preparations and ancestral weaving and dyeing techniques. Depending on its size, a Navajo Rug can take several years in the making. From herding the sheep with the best quality wool, to shearing, carding, fibre preparation, local flora and minerals collection for the dyes, dye mixing, fibre dyeing to the desired tones, and artistic composition, before weaving it into life surrounded by the stillness of the New Mexico desert.
